Waiting on Wednesday May 31, 2017

This week I am trying something new. Since Waiting on Wednesday seems to not be a thing anymore (even though I have still been using it) I decided to switch over to Can’t Wait Wednesday. I saw this new meme over on Danie Reads Books and thought I would switch over to this one!

Adam Hawthorne is fine.

Yeah, his mother left, his older sister went with her, and his dad would rather read Nicholas Sparks novels than talk to him. And yeah, he spends his nights watching self-curated porn video playlists.

But Adam is fine.

When a family friend discovers Adam’s porn addiction, he’s forced to join an addiction support group: the self-proclaimed Knights of Vice. He goes because he has to, but the honesty of the Knights starts to slip past his defenses. Combine that with his sister’s out-of-the-blue return and the attention of a girl he meets in an AA meeting, and all the work Adam has put into being fine begins to unravel.

Now Adam has to face the causes and effects of his addiction, before he loses his new friends, his prodigal sister, and his almost semi-sort-of girlfriend.

I met Dave Connis in 2015 at the SCBWI Midsouth conference and then again in 2016 at a writing group and can’t wait for his book to come out! I haven’t read very many books where the main character deals with addiction. I am interested to see how all of that fits into Adam’s regular life. We saw a snippet of the book during my birthday week and I look forward to getting to read so much more!

  2. Not something I would usually read, but I’m intrigued. This seems like a brutally honest contemporary and I tend to like those :) Thanks for sharing!

Not something I would read either! I used to hate contemporaries, but now I can’t get enough of them!

  3. Hmmm…this book sounds interesting! I’ll have to check it out!

That is not a synopsis you see every day, especially in regards to the porn addiction — I don’t know the author, but you’ve shown me he’s worth looking up!
