Overview from Barnes and Noble:
He couldn’t help his past any more than he could help the way those intense, deep blue eyes pierced me and held me captive.
An eighteen-year-old queen in love with the enemy as their countries pass the point of no return…
Bound to a man she cannot love, Queen Alera of Hytanica must forget Narian, the young man who holds her heart. For Narian is destined to conquer Hytanica at the behest of his master, the powerful magic-user known as the Overlord. Alera doesn’t truly believe Narian will fight against Hytanica—until Cokyrian troops attack with Narian commanding the charge.
Faced with the greatest betrayal a heart can know, Alera must set aside personal feelings and lead her kingdom through its darkest time. And when all hope, will and courage seem lost, she must find strength and remember that even the blackest night must have a dawn.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved this story and I am going to say that I was shocked at how much I loved it! I haven’t read a book like this in a long time and recently my favors have shifted to books in a little different genre. Kluver is an extraordinary writer who continues to perfect her craft as the books go on. It is not often that readers get to delve into a fully perfectly crafted world and it is an even smaller chance that we are introduced to an entire cast of characters each fully developed and who could stand on their own. I could tell you details about every single character presented in this book because Kluver took the time to shape and form each of them fully.
It is not often that a reader is able to fall fully into the emotions of a book and for me this book did that. That’s what distinguishes this book from a great book and an amazing tale. I laughed with theses characters, got angry with them, and most shockingly to me I cried with them. Allegiance is a book about the horrors of war and Kluver has captured that essence to the extreme. My jaw dropped, my eyes watered, and I held my breathe during many of the brutal scenes.

Kluver writes with amazing style and elegance that we do not often get to see with today’s books. I am very eager to reading more from her in the future. I was unable to put Allegiance down and sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. I am unable to hold together my excitement for the third book Sacrifice and I will eagerly await the next installment. I am giving this book five stars!
